FREE SOLAR TOOLS

Free solar calculators

Working out if a roof is right for solar starts with two numbers: which way it faces (the azimuth) and how steep it is (the tilt). These free calculators give you both in under a minute, straight from your browser. No signup, no app, and nothing gets uploaded.

Roof Azimuth Calculator

Why are these calculators free?

Solar Buddy is a solar monitoring service. We watch solar systems all day and alert owners when a panel or inverter develops a fault. The better you understand your roof, the better your solar decisions, whether you're comparing quotes or trying to work out why your system underperforms. So we built the tools we wished existed and made them free.

If you already have solar, the direction and angle of your roof were locked in the day the house was built. What isn't locked in is whether every panel is still working. That's the part we help with. Here's how Solar Buddy works.

Own solar already?

Orientation sets the ceiling on what your system can produce. Faults decide whether it gets there. Solar Buddy connects to your inverter, learns how your system should perform and alerts you within 2 hours when something goes wrong.
